Environmental Monitoring involves the activities undergone in order to monitor and characterize the quality of the environment. The process is employed in the preparation of the environmental impact evaluation and in many circumstances where human activities can cause a harmful degradation of the natural environment.
All the programs and strategies employed during the monitoring process have valid rationalizations and the results are carefully reviewed, statistically analyzed and then published. Before undertaking any environmental monitoring task it is of utmost importance to be clear about the objectives and reasons for which the process is being carried out. Most of the monitoring project tasks are derived from the goals and the high level objectives of the organization. A poorly studied and planned monitoring task may cause more harm than good to the environment.
