The inclinometers are installed on the surface mines for geotechnical slope monitoring which are designed to measure different angles of slope or tilt of any surface. Several other names by which Inclinometer casing is popularly known as include tilt indicator, clinometers and slope alert. The casing included in these inclinometers is always used during geotechnical monitoring.
What is Inclinometer Casing?
Inclinometer casing is a specialized pipe that is used during its permanent installation in a borehole. These casings can also be attached to structures, embedded in fills and buried in trench. Few things that needs to be taken care of while determining the casing include its strength, the diameter of casing, groove dimensions, coupling mechanism and its straightness.
One another important aspect of Inclinometer casing is that they can be both horizontal as well as vertical. Both have different applications. The vertical inclinometers helps in monitoring the movement of the ground, landslides etc. Whereas, the horizontal inclinometers enables in checking the deformation of the concrete face of a dam.
